Continued Engineering Support on USAN Project
Prospect continues to provide thermal analysis and test support to the Cameron subsea production system (SPS) workscope on Total’s USAN deepwater oilfield, located off the coast of Nigeria in Offshore Mining Licence (OML) 138.
Prospect was awarded a major thermal modelling contract when the project commenced in 2007. Since then, Prospect has completed full thermal analysis of the SPS components and supported the creation of a detailed insulation scheme. The insulation design must meet with the specified thermal performance required of the various components of the USAN SPS, with the aim of mitigating against hydrate formation following ceased production.
As the project has progressed, Prospect’s scope of work covered by the contract extended to include full scale cool-down testing at shallow water test site. This involves on-site support during the test set-up, execution and review stages.
The USAN offshore field development is a subsea production facility of 23 production wells and 19 water and gas injector wells tied back to an FPSO in water depths ranging between 700 – 850 metres. USAN is expected to produce first oil early 2012.
